Best Month to Get Married in Marbella: A Seasonal Guide

We often get asked: “We want to marry in Marbella because we love the area and its vibe, but we’re unsure about the timing. What would you recommend?”

As with all aspects of wedding planning, we begin by asking couples about their vision. In reality, there’s no single ‘best’ month to tie the knot in Marbella. This flexibility is why the Costa del Sol is one of the top wedding destinations in Europe. With over 300 days of sunshine each year and a mild Mediterranean climate, each season has its own advantages.

With this in mind, we suggest that rather than asking when you should get married, it’s worth focusing on what kind of wedding you want.

Spring (March to May): Fresh, colourful and comfortably warm

As in most of Europe, Spring is one of Marbella’s most popular wedding seasons, and it’s easy to see why.

The weather has settled into that sweet spot where it’s warm enough to spend the day outdoors, but without the intensity of midsummer. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the terrace, spend the afternoon on the beach, squeeze in a round of golf or explore Marbella’s Old Town without feeling like they need to escape the heat.

For destination weddings, that’s a huge advantage. Your wedding isn’t just one day. Friends and family often turn it into a long weekend or even a holiday, so having weather that encourages everyone to get out and enjoy Marbella makes a real difference.

Another reason couples love spring is that it falls just before the height of the summer season. Marbella has plenty of life and atmosphere, but the beaches, restaurants and beach clubs are generally a little less hectic. It feels lively without being overwhelming, giving your guests the chance to experience everything that makes Marbella special while still finding a sunbed or a table for lunch without planning weeks in advance.

If you’re looking for that perfect balance of sunshine, comfortable temperatures and a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, spring is difficult to beat.

Summer (June to August): Long days and unforgettable evenings

If your dream wedding involves cocktails by the pool, dinner under the stars and dancing long into a warm evening, summer is difficult to beat.

Daylight stretches into the evening, giving you plenty of time to enjoy every part of the celebration without feeling rushed. Sunset ceremonies are particularly popular, with the softer evening light creating beautiful conditions for photography before guests move into dinner and dancing.

Naturally, summer is also the warmest time of year, with daytime temperatures often reaching 30°C or above, particularly in July and August. Most couples simply embrace this by adjusting the schedule. Later ceremonies, shaded cocktail hours and outdoor dinners allow everyone to enjoy the best of the weather while staying comfortable.

It’s also the season when the famous Marbella scene really comes alive. Beach clubs are bustling, terraces are lively and the entire town seems to be celebrating with you.

Autumn (September to November): The best of both worlds

If there is one season that surprises many couples, it’s autumn.

September often feels very much like summer, with warm sea temperatures and plenty of sunshine, while October and November bring slightly cooler evenings without losing that unmistakable Marbella lifestyle.

For many, autumn offers a perfect balance. The heat softens, the pace becomes a little more relaxed and outdoor celebrations remain very much on the agenda.

The changing light also creates a particularly beautiful backdrop. Golden sunsets and comfortable temperatures make everything from ceremonies to evening dining feel wonderfully relaxed.

It’s a season that suits couples looking for understated elegance rather than peak-season energy.

Winter (December to February): A different kind of destination wedding

Winter is a wonderful time to get married in Marbella. While much of Europe is wrapped up against the cold, the Costa del Sol enjoys a mild microclimate with bright blue skies and daytime temperatures typically between 16°C and 18°C, often rising even higher. It’s comfortable enough for outdoor ceremonies, terrace receptions and al fresco dining, without the intense heat of the summer months.

It’s also a season that makes sense practically. As Marbella moves into its quieter months, venues and suppliers often have greater availability, making it easier to secure your first-choice location and, in many cases, at a more favourable price. Your guests can also benefit from lower airfares and hotel rates, making a destination wedding that little bit easier for everyone.

Then there are the little things that make a winter wedding here feel so special. The gardens remain green, flowers continue to bloom and the Mediterranean provides a spectacular backdrop all year round. The softer winter light is beautiful for photography, while the earlier sunset naturally leads into candlelit dinners, fairy lights and an evening of great food, wine and celebration.

If you love the idea of a destination wedding that combines winter sunshine with everything Marbella has to offer, it’s a season well worth considering.

So, which season is right for you?

Rather than choosing the “best” month, think about the atmosphere you want to create.

Do you picture vibrant gardens and comfortable sunshine? Spring could be perfect.

Love the idea of pool parties, warm evenings and dancing outdoors until late? Summer has your name written all over it.

Prefer golden sunsets, relaxed elegance and slightly cooler temperatures? Autumn might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Or perhaps a more intimate celebration with winter sunshine and long leisurely lunches feels more like you.

The wonderful thing about Marbella is that none of those choices are wrong.
